randeep hooda,

Actor Randeep Hooda recently made his directorial debut with the biopic, Swatantrya Veer Savarkar. In his nearly two-decade-long career, the actor has delivered some powerful performances with his role in Sarbjit, Highway, Kick and many others. Apart from his remarkable journey in Bollywood, Randeep Hooda also left an indelible mark in Hollywood with his performance in Chris Hemsworth starrer Extraction. In an exclusive chat with Bollywood Bubble, the actor reveals how his stint didn’t get recognition in Bollywood.

Randeep Hooda on not getting recognised by Indians for Extraction

The actor expressed how he didn’t get appreciated by Indians despite having a prominent role. “Nothing happened in India. No one even talked about it in India, except a few media persons. But I wanted to do the role of disruptor in Extraction because I had the choice. If you go out of the country and look at India from their perspective – and we have to thank Gandhiji for it – that we aren’t considered physically strong. We’re given the roles of taxi drivers, 7-Eleven clerks, doctors, and technicians. So when I was given the opportunity to fight with Thor (Chris Hemsworth’s role in Marvel Cinematic Universe), then I took it up”.

He further added, “That role turned out to be great. I got a lot of appreciation internationally. Everyone asked, ‘Who is this actor?’ They also saw a lot of my past films. So waha bahut kuch hua par yaha kabhi kisi ne baat hi nahi ki. Mai next as a director yahi soch raha hu ki ek action picture banau aur extraction ko bhi piche chod du. (I am thinking to make an action film next that leaves even Extraction behind).

Randeep’s role in Extraction

Randeep essayed the role of Saju, a former Para (Special Forces) Lieutenant Colonel, in the film. The film directed by Sam Hargrave starred Chris Hemsworth. It narrated the story of a mercenary hired to rescue a kidnapped Indian boy from a Bangladeshi drug lord. The film caught significant attention in India for the parts played by Indian actors, Randeep Hooda, Rudhraksh Jaiswal, and Priyanshu Painyuli.

In the interview, Randeep also recalled working as a taxi driver in Melbourne, Australia and how he had to sell his house for Swatantrya Veer Savarkar.
